Hill House batted first and reached an impressive score of 172 for 5 from 24 overs. An impressive opening display from school Principal Mr Holland gave the Teachers' team a solid start but when team captain, Mr C Keyworth, hobbled off with a thigh injury it looked as though Mr Orme's team might gain the upper hand. However, all was not loast as Mr A Parkin-Coates gained control once more with a wonderful display of straight-bat shots.
The Hill House teachers then took the field. Confident bowling from nearly all the team members and some wonderful fielding, especially from Mr D Cook and Mr M Hague, made sure that the opposition were always going to struggle to reach their target. As the light started to fade the teachers' hopes grew and when Mr Orme was bowled by Mr M Davis with just two overs to go the result seemed inevitable. Mr Orme's XI eventually saw out the 24 overs having fallen short of the total by just 7 runs.
